OUR PATIENT CARE TECHNICIAN (PCT) PROGRAM

PATIENT CARE SKILLS

PATIENT CARE SKILLS

PATIENT CARE SKILLS

This capstone portion brings all training components together into the full Patient Care Technician role. Students learn advanced bedside procedures such as catheter care, glucose monitoring, intake/output tracking, charting, patient safety protocols, and multi-skill workflow — preparing them to function as versatile, job-ready PCTs in fast-paced healthcare settings.

PHLEBOTOMY TRAINING

PATIENT CARE SKILLS

PATIENT CARE SKILLS

Patient Care Technicians are often responsible for drawing blood for labs and diagnostic testing. In this course, students gain hands-on experience performing venipunctures, specimen handling, and lab safety procedures — preparing them to confidently perform blood collection in clinical environments.

EKG TRAINING

EKG TRAINING

PCTs frequently assist with cardiac monitoring in hospitals and specialty units. This class teaches students how to properly place leads, perform electrocardiograms, recognize basic heart rhythms, and operate EKG equipment — essential skills for working alongside nurses and physicians in patient monitoring.

EKG TRAINING

Build the core hands-on skills every Patient Care Technician uses daily. In this portion of the program, students learn how to assist patients with activities of daily living, support mobility, maintain infection control, and provide bedside care. This training forms the foundation of PCT work in hospitals, rehab centers, and long-term care settings.

Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at info@medicaltrainingpb.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

A Patient Care Technician is a multi-skilled healthcare professional who works alongside nurses and doctors to provide direct patient care. PCTs assist with vital signs, blood draws, EKGs, patient mobility, hygiene, and other bedside procedures in hospitals and clinical settings. PCTs have higher skill levels than CNAs.

YES! - and you do not have to repeat training you’ve already completed.

If you’re currently certified as a CNA and/or Phlebotomist:

  • You can skip the portions you’ve already completed

  • We will discount the tuition for those program components

This allows you to upgrade to PCT faster and more affordably without starting from scratch.

No experience is required. We train students from the ground up, starting with foundational patient care skills and building toward advanced technician procedures.

Yes — flexible payment options are available. Speak with our team to review tuition breakdowns and payment arrangements.

Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) focus primarily on foundational patient care such as assisting with activities of daily living, hygiene support, and mobility.

Patient Care Technicians (PCTs) build on CNA skills by adding advanced clinical responsibilities such as:

  • Drawing blood (Phlebotomy)

  • Performing EKGs

  • Assisting with cardiac monitoring

  • Collecting lab specimens

  • Performing additional bedside procedures

Because of this expanded skill set, PCTs are often able to work in hospital settings and specialty units where CNAs alone may not qualify.

PCTs also typically earn higher pay due to their multi-certification training and ability to perform both patient care and clinical procedures. The additional skills make PCTs more versatile and more valuable to healthcare employers.
